Pinterest updated its iPhone and iPad applications Tuesday. The newest iPhone version, for instance, brings with it an animated shortcut for repinning, liking and sharing pins to friends as they browse the inspirational social network from their mobile devices.

Now when perusing the home feed or boards, people can press and hold a pin to view a special menu for instant interaction. The new shortcut menu, which fans out on press, includes three icons: pin it, like, and send. The menu boasts fancier graphics that fit the social networks’ aesthetic. Members slide their finger to the appropriate icon to trigger the action in question.

The animated addition is fun in spirit and practical in function as it further simplifies the act of pinning on mobile and makes the app even more addictive.

The updated pinterest for ios application also allows users to set board covers and mention their friends in pin descriptions.
